A new $21 million LivSmart Studios by Hilton hotel is planned for The Lake District in Lakeland.
The 121-room extended-stay hotel will be the first of its brand in the Memphis area.
Construction is slated to begin in June and finish by June 2027.

MXR Hospitality has appointed Travis Murray, who served as president for McNeill Hotel Company, as its inaugural EVP, operations.

In this role, Murray will provide strategic oversight and day-to-day leadership for the company’s hotel portfolio, including in the areas of brand and owner relationships, operational efficiencies and guest satisfaction, as well as a focus on growing the company’s third-party hotel property management portfolio.

Extended-stay hotel developer and property management firm MXR Hospitality has made two notable appointments. Dawne Brado is the company’s inaugural vice president, development, and Valerie Bolton is its inaugural executive vice president, human resources.

MXR Hospitality also names Eric Watts, also president of Extended Stay for Dallas-based RREAF Holdings, as its inaugural President.

RREAF Holdings, a privately held, vertically integrated real estate investment and development firm, has formed MXR Hospitality, a strategic partnership with hospitality investor Philip McNeill Sr. The collaboration aims to develop extended-stay hotels nationwide and create a hospitality management company dedicated exclusively to the extended-stay segment.

“Our experience with third-party property management in our multifamily portfolio showed us firsthand the challenges of maintaining quality and consistency,” said Eric Watts, director, extended-stay, RREAF Holdings. “We created our in-house property management firm, RR Living, to address these challenges, and we saw similar gaps in the extended-stay sector, where these assets are often underserved. With MXR Hospitality, our goal is to bring the same commitment to operational excellence and best-in-class management to extended-stay hotels, both within our portfolio and across the industry.”
